This delicate charm necklace features a genuine Byzantine Christ, King of Kings coin from 1023-1028 A.D. set with a 14k gold filled bezel setting.
This coin was made anonymously in place of the official coins that depicted the Byzantine emperor. They replace him with the bust of Jesus Christ with a halo around his head. On the back of this version, it depicts the Mother Mary with her hands raised. To have one of these coins in your possession was seen as a sign of prestige throughout the rest of the Byzantine empire.
