NACOZARI MEXICAN TURQUOISE - Limited supply doesn’t even begin to describe the Nacozari turquoise. Found in one copper mine in Sonora, Mexico; Nacozari turquoise is known for its two variants: a sky blue color, and a dark navy blue color. Unfortunately a Canadian company bought out the copper mine and declared that they would allow no more turquoise mining and that the mine was closed “for good”; so whatever Nacozari turquoise is on the market is all that is left for the foreseeable future.
TURQUOISE got its name from early trade routes - Europeans ended up getting the stone from the Turkish bazaars. Turquoise has been a prominent stone throughout most cultures for thousands of years. It is seen as a symbol of wisdom and nobility. This turquoise in particular has been stabilized to maintain its shape without crumbling.
