This delicate charm necklace features a genuine Greek Dionysus coin from around 120-63 B.C. set in a 14k gold pronged setting.
DIONYSUS - The ancient Greek god of the wine harvest, and thereby wine and revelry as well as theatre. Performance and art were foundations of the Cult of Dionysus; and his followers are accredited with the birth of organized theatre.
CISTA MYSTICA - a sacred casket (invented in Ancient Egypt); which the Cult of Dionysus used to house the snakes that were used in their initiation ceremony. The serpent was believed to represent the god himself.
