HELENA was the wife of Constantius I and mother of Constantine the Great. She was highly influential in the spread of Christianity. In her later years, she toured Jerusalem and the Eastern Provinces searching for holy relics, and is credited with the discovery of the True Cross of Jesus Christ as well as the crucifixion nails.
