** PLEASE NOTE: This is the exact coin you will receive! As all of these ancient coins were made by hand (and have aged about 1000 years), they all have unique shapes and printings; and are therefore one of a kind.
This coin features the large "K" that designates the coin as being worth 20 nummis along with ANNO "H"(also referred to as crescent symbol) depicting the year of rule. The reverse side shows Justinian I fully robed with headgear and holding a cross in his right hand surrounded with an inscription - weathered and largely illegible, the common inscription was DN IVSTINIANVS PP AVG. (Translated: D(ominus) N(oster) IVSTINIANVS P(ater) P(atriae) AVG(ustus) : "Our Lord Justinian, Father of the Fatherhood, The Great (or Venerable)".
JUSTINIAN I was the Eastern Roman Emperor (Byzantine Emperor) from 525-565 AD. He is best known for his creation of Justinian Code - the unification of all law in a single written text, and is still the basis for most civil law today. His focus was the restoration of Europe, and many historians consider him the Last Roman Emperor. The Eastern Orthodox Church call him "Saint Justinian the Great".
