DOMITIAN was ruler of Rome from 81-96. His main accomplishments were boosting the Roman economy, strengthening Roman borders against invasion, and a massive re-building program that restored Rome (the city) from damage in prior conflicts. He was known for rendering the Senate powerless, and was beloved by the average citizens.

MINERVA - She was the goddess of wisdom, strategic warfare, justice, and law. She was considered the Roman counterpart to the Greek goddess Athena. Domitian believed Minerva was his protector goddess. He claimed he had a dream near the end of his life that Minerva came to speak to him, telling him that she had been disarmed by Jupiter and could no longer protect him. Ironically, he did actually die via assassination very soon after.
